SciCorp Laboratories (Pty) Ltd has a vacancy for a Microbiologist, to be based at their head office in Pietermaritzburg. The position has the following requirements: • To adhere to strict deadlines in carrying out microbiological analysis on food and environmental samples in accordance with ISO 17025 • Inventory control and ordering of microbiology supplies • Ensure that the instruments are calibrated, used and verified accordingly. Report instruments that require maintenance, repair or calibration to the Manager. • Monitoring technical performance in the laboratory to ensure efficient sample flow in the laboratory. • Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard • Maintaining SANAS accreditation for the Microbiology department together with the Laboratory Manager. • Ensure staff are technically competent to perform their duties and train staff on new or updated procedures • Validation/verification of methodology for acceptable accreditation purposes • Must be prepared to work overtime (scheduled/unscheduled) outside normal working hours
Minimum Requirements: • BSc Hons in Microbiology with 2-3 years’ experience in an ISO 17025 accredited facility. Specific knowledge and skills required: • Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard and Quality Management Systems • Experience in molecular biology (e.g. Real-time PCR) • Good interpersonal and communication, report writing and problem-solving skills. • Be able to work with minimum supervision, flexible and innovative approach • Proven ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlinesEmail to Apply
